|We arrived in the Lake George area and stayed in a beautiful campground about 40 minutes away from my Dad for 3 nights while we looked for a spot for the summer. I didn’t realize the number of people who reserve a seasonal space year after year, leaving their trailer or fifth wheel there over the winter months, all set to go as soon as the weather turns nice. This week has been beautiful, but a lot of the parks don’t open until May 15th and some not until Memorial Day Weekend.
So we spent the last 3 days visiting with my Dad and checking out every park we could find within a 20 mile radius. Some had no sites available, a couple had 1, and there were a few that had sites but not ones we particularly wanted. We finally settled on a site on the Schroon River in Warrensburg which is about a 20 minute drive from my Dad and I think we will be very happy with it. The park doesn’t officially open until May 15th but they are allowing us to stay on a temporary site by the road until then (I am really hoping that they will get us in a little before that).
There will probably not be many journals now that we are not traveling, but I will be sure to keep you abreast of any exciting news or excursions we attempt. We hope to spend a good part of the summer floating on tubes down the river – as soon as the water warms up!
