When the Trailer Barn in Paso Robles was done fixin us up and Dave double checked the work we left at about 11:30 a.m. heading south on Hwy 101. The 5'er traveled very well, straight and true.

This is the first time we have stayed at this Thousand Trails preserve. It's widely known for it's scenery, hills and the wonderful views of the canyon. This preserve is a portion of a former much larger ranch. Now it's about 320 acres. It's a very tricky place to get to, as once you leave the highway it's county, back country roads until the turn off to go to the park, that's when it gets worse yet! There is 1.3 miles of uphill over hill and dale on a narrow, yes sometimes very narrow road. There are places that two vehicles cannot pass safely, some one is going to back up and pull off. Think white knuckle and sweaty palms and there is not much that can bother Dave's driving, this one has the potential. We are lightly concerned about our leaving on the 13th.

The reason for our lagging of updates has been there hasn't been phone, 3G or TV in the canyon of TT Rancho Oso near Santa Barbara. Yes, there are still "those" areas even in a "hi-tech" state such as California. The canyon is a beautiful place, we just loved staying there as the countryside was rugged and pristine. But we did have to drive at least 15 miles to get cell phone and 3G. So we used our time wisely when we left the campground for touring, also making our calls or tapping into the iPad for other such data.

Since we have been here, however, we have gone out touring several times. We have been to Solvang, Santa Barbara, Goleta, Buellton, Vandenberg AFB, Lompoc. So take a look at the pictures we have for you.
