Marion needed to see something today, I was not so keen as it was a weekend but away we went. Before we left home in October I found this road trip near Tucson that looked like it had everything we like to see. Indeed it was, hoodoos, large rock formations, yes we love our mountains. This trip took us on the Sky Island Scenic Byway in the Catalina Mountains near Tucson. It is 25 mile paved highway from the Sonoran desert valley floor to the top of Mt Lemmon sitting at 9157ft.

I have to say that many of these pictures were grabbed right from Google images. The sun was either in the wrong position or there was no place to stop for so many pictures we wanted. But at the end of the day we did see all this magnificient scenery. So the images here, being either ours or borrowed do in fact reflect our daytrip.

At the base of the mountain the temperature was 82/27C.When we arrived for lunch it had dropped to 52/11C. And I have to say, the restaurant food was fantastic and well priced.

At the end of the day we logged some 336 KMS and came home in the dark once again. Have to start using that alarm setting!!

Our next adventure will take us back down that way again in a few weeks to a place called Sabino Canyon. They have a Shuttle bus that takes us around so I will get a better chance to look around at the scenery.
