Lousy roads
Yet another Portland, too small to show up on Lonely Planet's map! Now you have three Portlands to choose from!
A brief word about roads....off the main highway many are lousy. Often the government appears to just give up and put a sign that indicates "lousy road" instead of trying to actually fix the problem. Add to that the extra excitement of worrying about moose; all the locals have at least one harrowing moose-hitting-car story in which noone seems to win. This happens so often that the locals refer to them as "Newfoundland speedbumps!"
