Pete called from Xiamen and everything was going well, including the weather, which was pretty warm with temperatures in the low 90's. He said that he and some of his friends had visited Disneyland when they were in Hong Kong and did not see anything of the democracy demonstrations, which he said were pretty localized to an area similar to our Wall Street in New York. Unfortunately, a number of the Voyager employees lost their day in port, having to cover duties for local employees in Hong Kong who did not appear for work with the Port Authority. Actually, most people apparently did show up but they kept the Voyager crew on hand, just in case, having them on call and updating them every 15 minutes that they weren't needed yet, until the whole day went by and they were never actually needed. Pete was glad he was not part of the group that was asked to step up because he enjoyed his day in port. He visited several of the usual Disney sites, such as Space Mountain, The Haunted Mansion, and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, as well as some attractions that are unique to the Hong Kong Disney which are centered around "Toy Story." He said that he had spoken to his friend, Hannah, who has finished her short contract on the Radiance of the Seas, going to Alaska and Hawaii, and is now on the Navigator of the Seas, sailing from Texas and Florida to ports in the Western Caribbean. She is doing well.

Today in Xiamen, Pete went to a mall and ate dinner with his friends Robert, Carly (Spa stylist), Mel (Spa Ionthermist), Ting (Spa) and Elaine (Spa).
