First glimpse of snow on top of the mountains!!! I think this...

The advertisement for our accommodation boasted of " heated towel rails"

Pink snow at sunset, from harrietville

Today Jackie and her boys Aidan and Dylan and panda and I headed off on an epic road trip in search of snow.

The boys and I have never ever seen snow so we are pretty excited.

We've booked 4 nights in " luxury" accommodation in harrietville which is a long way from castlemaine ( it took most of the day to get here) but a short drive to several snow capped mountains!

First we stopped at the castlemaine botanic gardens and while Jackie did a last minute shop, the rest of us explored part of the gardens which are beautiful, huge and 154 years old.

Then we piled in the car and set off.

We stopped at glenrowan to get lunch at the bakery.

This is the town where Ned Kelly made his last stand. We decided to spend more time here on the way back and do the Ned Kelly heritage walk.

Then we piled back into the car and got to our accommodation.

There was much excitement in the car when we caught our first glimpse of a snow covered mountain!

Jackie made roast pork for tea and we had an early night looking forward to the next day when we finally get into the snow!!!!!
