We left Trier very early after a 6:30 am breakfast. We entered the northern edge of the Black Forrest and came into Baden-Baden. Our first stop was for a tour of the Kurhaus and Casino. It was built in 1823 and tours are only available for the casino opens for gambling at 2:00 pm. The 8 rooms we we're able to tour were decorated in different styles of architecture. The first room was the Austrian Room with the most interesting roulette wheel of racing horses with the numbers. This room is no longer used, but quite a sight. Other rooms had French roulette and American roulette as well as black jack. The Terrace was built in 1919 and recently decorated and this is a very popular room...not only for Texas Hold Em but also for smoking!

Following our tour we had a brief orientation walk on the main pedestrian plaza before checking into our hotel, Heliopark Bad Hotel Hirsch. it is a lovely hotel with wonderful wi-fi! Chuck and I went to a small lunch at Nordsee K and had fish soup and fish and potatoes. Chuck went back to the hotel for a nap. I decided to walk around and window shop. Dave and mike went to the funicular For a View of the town, and Kanene and Connie walked to the Rose Garden.

Tonight we walked back to the casino for the 2 for 1 (3 course) dinner. We had a wonderful dinner plus wine! It began with shrimp, salmon, salad, smoked fish and bread. Then chicken and sautéed vegetables. The chicken was so moist! The meal ended with 3 small dessert samplings and one was creme bruele...delicious! 3 hours later we walked back to the hotel to get ready for tomorrow when we drive into Switzerland.
