Michael's Chilli Challenge

The Wall of Flame

Our 22kms route today took us along the north shore of Loch Lochy, which is said to be inhabited by a monster known as "Lizzie", no doubt a relation of "Nessie". This is essentially Cameron country, and land around Achnacary was/is used as a training ground for Commandos. We came across a Dutch barge near the end of the walk where we stopped for refreshments. The chef of this cosy floating inn is well known for issuing a challenge to his customers: To eat a the contents of a dish made out of the 5 hottest chillies within 15 minutes, with an extra 5 minutes "cooling off" period before partaking of anything to "put out the fire". We just happened to be there when Michael from Germany took on the challenge and became only the fourth person to be placed on the "Wall of Flame".
