Today was dedicated to a boat tour of the Kenai Fjords National Park, Resurrection Bay/Prince William Sound, and a salmon and prime rib dinner on Fox Island. Sharon also enjoyed fresh crab. The boat stopped often for a variety of sea life: humpback whales, orca porpoises that accompanied us for a couple minutes, a sea otter, puffins, bald eagles, sea gulls, and sea lions. One group of two or three humpback whales was “circle fishing.” They would first exhale to create a surge of bubbles, and then swim in a circle ending at the surface where they would “gulp” the corralled fish. Besides the sea life, we observed several calving events at the toe of the Aialik glacier. It is not possible to describe their sounds and splashes.

We overnighted at the Fred Meyer grocery store in Soldotna to give Sharon the experience of sleeping in a Walmart parking lot in a cramped camper. (Soldotna does not have a Walmart.)
