Sun., July 6th – We moved north to the Chugach (pronounced Choo-gatch) National Forest where we set up camp in the wilderness of Williwaw Campground. It will be our first experience on this trip with dry camping (no hookups for electric or water) with 6 of us in the RV. We’re going to learn just how precious water really is! At Carmen’s advice, Steve and I went in to Providence ER in Anchorage to have them take a look at my flashing eye. The on-call ophthalmologist will see me tomorrow morning in his office. We got back to the RV at 1am!
Mon., July 7th – The activities planned for today were made to work around Gram’s eye doctor visit in Anchorage. Since it was pouring rain, Carmen’s family decided on the inside tour of the Anchorage Museum. Viviana and Martin enjoyed the Imagination Discovery Center with the many hands-on exhibits. Gratefully, the doctor gave me a positive report on the condition of the retina, so we left the city and made a stop at the Alyeska Resort where we all took the cabled tramway to the top of the mountain. The views from the summit were fantastic. It was the end of another very full day.
