Today was my last full day here in Newfoundland. Did a lot today - saw a few people, watched a movie, and packed everything back up.

I hate goodbyes.

I love this place, and it's hard to say later on - but that's what this is - it's a later on. I'll be back; no doubt of that, but in the short term, it sucks a bit to leave.

I mean, where else can you touch the beginnings of the earth, be in contact with the spirit of explorers, walk where the Norse walked, be in buildings dating back to the 1700s, and feel like you're in some small European town . . . but still in North America?

Newfoundland is just one of those unique places on the planet that I hope folks get a chance to see. It is ruggedly beautiful here; the people are genuinely charming; the echoes of history always ringing in your ears. There is always something here. A siren's call, really.

Farewell, Newfoundland. Until we meet again soon.
