A Travel Day:
The last three days we have enjoyed visiting our friends, Bob & Beth at their home located on Hwy 19 in Wakonda, SD.
This morning we woke to an awesome sunrise. After packing and hitching up we joined Bob & Beth for a wonderful pancake breakfast. We will definitely need to be back on a diet after this visit.
It was an emotional time bidding our farewells to Bob & Beth this morning. We really enjoyed our visit with these great friends. We finally hit the road by 9:30 am and Bob escorted us on his motorcycle out to junction of I-29 where we headed north.
Originally, my plans were to make at least a couple more stops in southern MN and northern SD before finally landing in Grand Forks, ND on July 1st. With some considerations not described here and the weather forecast for the next few days I opted to make up some travel time and we blasted on north to Summit, SD where we intend to stay for the next five nights. (More on this at a later date.)
We are camped at the County Line Campground in Summit. I was pleasantly surprised with this campground. Check-in was friendly and efficient. The sites are large, grassy, clean & neat. The hook-ups are all okay, with great water, a picnic table and a fire pit. There are just a couple of other rigs here tonight. We have no Cable TV but pick up some air channels. Quiet and peaceful.
It looks like we may be in for some stormy weather later but the campground host claims that most of the storms seem to pass either side of Summit. We are at the height of the land here at an elevation of just 2,000 feet asl.
