Canastota to Herkimer

Happy Summer Solstice!

Another perfect gorgeous day for biking, sunny and warm, but not too hot. The trail is almost done for us, 150 miles left to bike, three more days.

Before we left Canastota, we found a little bakery, where we picked up a fresh baguette for lunch and some pastries and coffee for breakfast. We found a 9/11 memorial close by and ate it there in the sunshine. Most of these little villages have a memorial built commemorating this tragedy. This one displayed (among other things) a part of one of the steel beams from the twin towers....very moving.

Tonight we are staying at one of the best B&B's we have stayed in this trip, the Bellinger Rose B&B. Another old Victorian home built ~1860, but kept so well after all these years. So beautiful and the owners are lovely. They even insisted on driving us to an awesome restaurant downtown for supper and picking us up afterwards.....feeling very spoiled. When we got home, we joined them for a fire in the backyard.
