Just back from a great weekend of tree-planting near the Little Desert National Park. As part of the Hindmarsh Landcare Weekend over 250 volunteers planted almost 16,000 trees. A bunch of folks from work went, and we stayed at The Little Desert Nature Lodge (http://www.littledesertlodge.com.au/index.php) which hosts this annual event. Landcare in Australia is very popular, as you can see it along urban roadsides and in small rural communities. It was great to get my hands dirty, and the weekend made me miss my tree-planting days in Portland.

After the work day, they had a big bonfire, a bbq, night nature walks, and live music. A great mixer, with people from the city and the country enjoying each others company.

I have 3 more days on the job, and then I head up to Sydney for my last week in Oz. It has been a great trip, but I am also looking forward to getting back to the real work!
