|Went to Casa Grande monument here in Coolidge. The ruins are a portion of the 4-storey great house that still remains of the settlement believed to be established about 1350 a.d. The people were believed to have settled along the Salt & Gila Rivers and developed fairly extensive irrigation canals between villages. Quite interesting. Then we went down the road to Florence(9 miles),which is the county seat of Pinal County. There are three prisons there-one is the county jail & the other are State prisons. Neat & tidy town, also a fairly large Mexican import shop-pottery & yard art.
