10/8/13, Tuesday.

We arrived today at Peita's home. She is one of Herb's daughters. We got to meet her before she had to leave for Sydney to go to work. She and her children have a nice home with a huge backyard bordering on a small forest of trees. It was very pretty. Her town is on a penninsula sticking out into Lake Macquarie, Australia's largest coastal salt water lake. It is huge at 42.5 square miles. It is connected to the Tasman Sea by a short channel. Lake Macquarie is twice as large as Sydney Harbour and is the largest permanent salt water lake in the southern hemisphere.

10/9/13, Wednesday.

We drove around today to see the town and Lake Macquarie. Then we drove up to the Hunter Valley. This is one of the more popular wine regions with many wineries and LOTS of tasting!! We stopped in at the Ernest Hills Winery, then the Lambloch Winery, home of "The Loch" wine, an award winning red (at $95 per bottle). We bought one for Herb's birthday (yesterday). Next was our favorite, Ballabourneene Wine Company. We met the Director/Winemaker, Daniel Binet and his wife, Natalie. They were wonderful people. Natalie was in charge of our tasting and led us through their many samples. She and her husband are planning a business trip to the US so we will hopefully see them then and be able to show them around the wineries in our area of Northern California. Our final stop in "the Hunter" was at Peppers Creek Antiques and Curios where Robin wandered to her heart's content.

10/10/13, Thursday.
