Just down the road from Francesca's house is Howell's, a cool place...

Lovely place!

Barn Yard for the kids...

Pumpkins, beautiful mums & Larry's favorite windmill too!

I've never seen a patterned 'pumpkin' before... Have you?

Or knobby one's either!

Check out these interesting colors, shapes & sizes!

One of my favorites....Yellow & dark green

Ok, just one more close-up shot. Aren't they cool? I wonder if...

Beautiful mums in lots of sizes and colors...

Yep, I'm still here checking things out...Fascinating!

Looks like their summer growing season is winding down...

The one's still growing are sure pretty & look very healthy...

This old outhouse was kinda cool...

They were busily hanging a few of the flowers outdoors...Perhaps they'll move...

One of their website photos...Lovely field for sure. Worth a visit!

Today's post covers our visit to Howell's Dried Floral and Greenhouse, with more than 5 acres of flowering gardens and a giant barn filled with beautiful, naturally air-dried florals and arrangements. Inside the barn, in the loft, the flowers are hung in 20 and 25 foot cascades to be naturally, air dried. They grow more than 53 different flowers, pods and grains.

I loved the rows and rows of hardy mums, brilliant pumpkins and colorful squash & gourds located outside in front of the 1910 barn. There was also a friendly Barn Yard, where kids can see live farm animals including goats, sheep, pigs, and chickens.

The Gift Shop was packed to the rafters with scary stuff and super fall decorations. I resisted a couple of beautiful floral centerpieces much to Larry's relief. No room for them for sure. This family owned farm is located in Cumming, Iowa, just a short drive south of Des Moines, and is open daily, all year round. I'm glad we stopped, made me feel like Fall is in the air!!
