After cruising 2950 nautical miles, visiting 10 in ports of call in 7 countries, our cruise finally drew to a close. Our shipped docked ever so gently at 5:30 am, we however were still sleeping. We awoke around 6:00 am to prepare for debarkation. We had packed our luggage the evening prior as when you are cruising it is customary to have your bags outside your door the previous evening in order for the crew to unload the thousands of guests’ bags. At around 6:30 we headed up to the lido deck for our final breakfast on the ship. We were feeling a little down that we had to leave as the ship and our stateroom been a comfortable home for the past 12 days. After breakfast we went back to our stateroom and picked our carry-on luggage and disembarked the ship. This was the easiest experience we have ever encountered leaving the ship, picking up our luggage and getting a taxi to take us to our hotel. The entire process maybe took 20 minutes, with no line ups. This is remarkable when you consider there were 3000 passengers onboard and was by far faster than the previous two cruises we had taken.

We hired a taxi to take us south to the seaside town of ”Castelldefeis” located about 25 kilometers south of the Barcelona cruise ship terminal. We reached the hotel before 8:30 am and had to wait for our 2:00 pm check in time. We relaxed a little by exploring the area on foot by walking to the nearby beach on the Mediterranean, having European thin crust pizza for lunch, scouting the transportation in the area so we could take the high speed train back into downtown Barcelona on Saturday to take a city tour and do some final shopping. Around 1:00 pm we were allowed to check into our room. We spent the rest of the day relaxing, swimming, napping and just taking it easy. We were quite tired from 5 straight days of long day shore excursions and were all still recuperating from the cold that many of our fellow passengers had also come down with on the cruise.
