We did not realize today was visit your national parks day! Drove out to the cave, you have to obtain a ticket for any of their tours and all the morning and early afternoon tours were taken. So we got one for mid afternoon and drive back into downtown Custer to do a little shopping. Went into Sophia's a shop which has been in Custer for 48 years, now owned and operated by Sophia's son. Purchased a simple Black Hill Gold leave design ring for me and a more complex one for Debra. Lunch at the rig, then back to the Caves. The most interesting part of the cave is that they only know from the wind studies that only a fraction of the cave has been explored. Also, because of the low rain fall here the formations are very slow growing, there is interest by the rangers in the future to see if the forest fire now allows faster
