Boarding The Sunshine

Carnival Sunshine

Our Cabin

We awoke around 7:00 after having a great nights sleep. We were expecting a continental breakfast at our hotel (included with our overnight stay) but it turned out to be a full breakfast with a very good choice of hot & cold selections. After breakfast we returned to our room to pack our suitcases and wait for our departure to our Cruise Ship which was to take place at noon.

The transfer bus was right on time and then we proceeded to the cruise ship terminal. The terminal is located at the west end of the islands of Venice. It is the only area of Venice islands that motor vehicles are actually allowed. The check in was the smoothest and quickest we have ever experienced cruising. In about 15 minutes we were aboard our ship and ready to start our official cruise vacation.

As the boarding of the ship went better than expected we decided that we would take a sea taxi to the main square of Venice, San Marco Square. Venice is a city built 40 islands with large and small water ways for streets. After about a 20 minute boat ride we reached the main square where we did some exploring as knowing that we were going to be returning to the downtown area the next day on a shore excursion that we had booked through our cruise line. We spent about 2 hours wandering through the square as well as the narrow passage ways surrounding the square checking out shops and stores. Doug and John went for a beer in a local pub, while Judy and Connie window shopped.

We then returned to our ship where we had a fantastic meal and then settled into our stateroom for the evening.
