Today was our last day to be able to attend worship here, as we will be on the road next Sunday. A retired pastor who had served in this congregation over 25 years ago was in town and delivered the sermon. It was fun to share with him afterwards and we said our goodbyes.

We shopped for the majority of our needs for this week, and staples that will get us hopefully through Canada. Then we packed as much as we could, and prepared to take the island out to Jessica’s. A peach/raspberry cobbler was to be our contribution, with fresh raspberries picked here at the park.

The island was loaded easily and it didn’t get wet on the way out – Jessica lives about 20 miles out East End Road, just up the bluff from the Kilcher’s farm, the folks who have a program on the Discovery Channel. We talked about how Otto had driven his big machine up Jessica’s driveway on one of the programs – what a hoot!

Jessica prepared salmon patties with raspberry/balsamic sauce, fried potatoes, purple slaw and fresh bread. All of the food had come from her garden except the salmon, which was caught here in Homer – it was delicious. Cobbler was dessert and really good as well. Afterwards we took a walk down the bluff to a lovely overlook across the bay – what beauty! We enjoyed sharing with them about their upcoming trip to Scotland – how exciting!
