We left Charters Towers for our trip to the coast. Travelled through Townsville around 11am and then a further 50klm north to our destination Rollingstone Beach Resort. What a great oasis were we are planning to spend the next week. We have a site on the beach, and the sea breeze is such a welcome relief after the dry dusty air we have been breathing for the past couple of weeks. We have an ensuite site.
Again we seem to be surrounded by folk who not only come here every year, but most of them stay here for a month or two before venturing back to the cooler climates. They do seem to be a very friendly group of people.
We were checking out the pool this afternoon and spoke to a couple who were leaving tomorrow after a few weeks here. When I mentioned how inviting the beach looked, she said yes it is a pity that we cant swim in it. Thinking she was talking about stingers, we were surprised when she said that crocodiles frequent the water here. We still havent seen the sign pointing this out, we could have made the news!
Alan is happy to learn that he can wash the van and pajero, the red dust is starting to get to him.
Great to go to bed with the windows open and the fresh sea breeze cooling us.
