Beautiful day. Mid 70's no humidity.

We took the back roads and drove to Saratoga Springs. We did our normal thing and stopped at the visitors center in the middle of a very busy downtown area. We found out it was a big weekend for the horse races celebrating 150 years of racing. We decided to drive out to the track and see if it was possible to get in. From the looks of the crowds we were a little concerned. Not a problem we parked at the track ($10.00) and had a little walk to the entrance. The crowd was hard to believe for a Wednesday afternoon. It was mid afternoon so we were there at about the 4th race. It was fun just to see the track and get caught up in the atmosphere.

We left there and drove through some of the Saratoga battlefields which is a National Historical Park on the hilltop above the Hudson River. These battles are considered what change the course of the war we ultimately won. Again there is lots of history of the battles between British, Germans and the Americans.

From there we headed back to our home in the woods.

Tomorrow........heading to Woodstock.
