Up at 5:30 and take a wildlife boat ride through the waterways near the lodge. We see a couple birds, bats, an iguana… some pigs and cows too but not too much. Back to lodge for breakfast and a bit of a rest. We then join the local guide and put on muck boots for a jungle hike. Wandering through the very wet jungle (but no rain) we get to see some poison dart frogs, termite nests (on trees), some carpenter ants, and lots of mud and mosquitos. We got back and hosed off.

After lunch we have some leisure time. I walk down the beach for a ways and come across a sea turtle nesting site. Lots of flowers but also lots of plastic… Back at the lodge Alice unties Veronica’s top in the pool and it strains relations so dinner was tense between the two girls. After we heard some howler monkeys but saw nothing. Also found out that the workers there stayed for a month at a time, then had two weeks off. Much too far to commute.
