June 23, 2013...Travel day from Denali National Park south to Wasilla, AK on AK Hwy. 3. We awoke early, so we were on the road by 5:15 am. Well, it's light outside anyhow, so we may as well get on the road. It was 40 degrees as we left Denali. A mama moose wandered what we were doing out so early. We stopped by the Nenana River for our morning devotions. I saw a porcupine by the side of the road but could get the camera in time to make a picture. We saw a mama moose and her two calves dash across the highway in the distance There wasn't time to zoom the camera closer. Perhaps you can enlarge the picture on your computer for a better view. As we drove into Denali State Park, we stopped at the Alaska Veterans Memorial. What a touching memorial of those who had served. Mt. McKinley could be seen here, too. I was impressed with how long we were able to view the mountain as we traveled south. It is truly a magnificent mountain.
