North View from Fun Valley

This was about an hour before we were told to skedaddle!

Well, we are now in Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM. We got here about 11:30 this morning. We spent last night just north of Santa Fe.

The campground we were parked in for the summer was evacuated about 6:00 pm last night due to the West Fork Complex Fire. It appears that overnight it jumped to 29,000 acres ablaze from 12,000 the day before, and 4000 acres two days ago. We were advised about 5:45 of a pre-evacuation notice. 15 minutes later, the sheriff deputies arrived and told us to leave. We hitched up the RV in 20 minutes and we were on our way to Santa Fe for the night. We left Santa Fe and pulled into Albuquerque this morning. I guess we will stay here a week or so.

The latest reports indicate that the town of South Fork is all but doomed. I am not sure if the RV park we stay at will survive the conflagration. I hope it does since we love the area.
