Hi Kadence and Friends,
This is Clumsy with more news from Hong Kong. My travel mates and I have taken another trip. We travelled to Macau which is approximately 40 miles across water from Hong Kong. We took a high-speed turbo jet ferry to Macau--also spelled Macao. The turbo jet ferry was very fast!! Macau is located on Mainland China and it was founded and ruled by Portugal until 1999. Now the Chinese Communist Government owns Macau, but Macau is able to make most of their own decisions. Macau has its own money--but the money is only good in Macau. Macau is the "Las Vegas" of China and thousands of people travel there every year to gamble. Many of the hotels are identical to the hotels in Las Vegas. My friends and I stayed at The Venetian and it is exactly the same as the one in Las Vegas. How many of you have visited Las Vegas?
Because Portugal ruled Macau for hundreds of years, there are many Catholic churches there. This picture of me is taken beside a souvenir of the oldest cathedral in Macao. It was destroyed by fire in 1835 but it used to be the largest Catholic Church in Asia.
Talk to you soon,
