The old part of town is really nice - the houses are all painted in different colours and the cathedral is straight out of Disney. The town's waterfront is on the Rio Orinocco - a great travellers river and we take a boat back and forth just for the hell of it ¨strange gringos!¨ and travel across the Fuente de Angostura, the only bridge that crosses the Orinocco for its whole 2140km length.

But come 7pm the town takes on a decidely sinsister feel, gun shots in the night are heard and we are glad to be staying in a lovley Posada.
