Plover Island

Sandon river mouth from Plover Island

We left Crescent on Saturday April 6 and travelled to Sandon River campsite, at Brooms Head, in the Yuraygir National Park on the Clarence Coast. We set up right on the edge of the river mouth, which is crystal clear, with the surf beach on the other side of the point. At the mouth of the river is Plover Island, which is a protected Aboriginal stone quarry site. At low tide you can walk out to it and are rewarded with magnificent views back into the river and village. The weather has been fine, however no luck fishing the river. Davo has just gone for a surf at Brooms Head which is the nearest town about 10 km north as the surf here is more my size. We are just waiting for a rain storm to pass and we will pack up and next stop is Evans Head.

Today's verse: 'You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anybody die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.' Romans 5:6-8
