Beth and family in Sierra Leone 2013 travel blog

Vaccines

Yellow Fever, Polio, Typhoid, Flu, Hepatitis A, Tetanus/Diptheria/Pertussis

Started my malaria pills yesterday

Sprayed all of my clothes with mosquito spray and packed them in plastic sacks.

I'm ready. Almost packed.

I leave Tuesday afternoon from Terminal 3 at McCarren Airport on Virgin Atlantic and will fly into London arriving on Wednesday. I will spend a couple of days with my cousin, Eve, and goddaughter, Kate, before meeting my brother, David, and nephew, Andrew for the flight to Freetown, Sierra Leone on Saturday. We will arrive on Sunday the 24th.

The itinerary from David's wife, Dena--

We are looking forward to your arrival - My plan is to go to Laaka Beach on Monday, March 25, i think that we will go to ConfortiSchool on March 26 or 27, and then also visit Njala University on Thursday, the 28th, stay in Bo for the night and see Dr. Maligi, and then I have booked tents at Tiwai Island nature center for March 29 and 30th. We will stay in Bo on Easter night, March 31. Still not sure about April 1, 2, 3. Depends on what you want to do.

About your arrival - rather than pick you up, I think that the three of you should take the hovercraft and I will meet you at the dock in Aberdeen. There will be a man at the airport - Ahusine - who will help you with your luggage and get through custorms. You will need to pay him 20,000 Leones for the cart and help ($5.00). You should change $200.00 at the change window - at the airport just as you are leaving the customs/security area. The tickets on the hovercraft will be $40.00 each. Alusine will call Mrs. Maligi when you arrive, so then we will leave to meet the hovercraft. Your plane comes in at 5:30 and the hovercraft will go about 7:30 a.m. and takes about 30 minutes.

So much I don't know but I am so looking forward to this adventure!!
