March 4 and 5 - Hastings

Sorry I missed a day. I was just too tired last night to write.

Yesterday was our first day back at the build after a couple of days off. We finished the cladding up to the top of the window openings, installed the windows, and insulated all exterior walls. It was a lot of work but we made great progress.

In the evening, we went to a need restaurant called "Off The Track" with a huge menu and good food.

Today we were back at the site by 8:30. We had an outside crew that continued to work on the siding including starting to complete the gables. We had an inside crew that worked on starting to wall board the rooms. We are doing it with plywood rather than gyproc. There is structural plywood that goes in specific locations that provides extra anchoring and support in the event of an earthquake. The rest is regular plywood. It too is a lot of work to make all the appropriate cuts. No table saw, jig saw or anything else. It is all done with a circular saw.

Not as much "finished" today but a lot of progress made both inside and out.

Tonight we were going to go to a British style pub for a dinner and a trivia contest but it was packed when we got there so we went to a different pub nearby. It was good.

Goodnight.
