Today was a travel day for us, and we were blessed with a pretty one. We woke up without setting an alarm, had a little cereal and coffee for breakfast, and worked on getting ready to travel. We are so much more relaxed than we used to be. Not that we ever want to get too "comfortable" with the process.

Sam and Sandy walked over to send us on our way with hugs and good wishes. We really enjoyed our time with them these past few days and hope they will enjoy the rest of their time in south FL.

We got on the road about 10:00am and had a nice smooth travel to Ortona Lock. We were only on I-95 for about 15 miles and took much lesser traveled roads after that which was nice. We drove through Okeechobee which was very busy. This is a really popular winter destination for many who come here to fish Lake Okeechobee, the second largest freshwater lake in the country. A bit too busy for me, I would think for a town this size.

We drove about 2 hours and 15 minutes before arriving at Ortona Lock Campground on the Caloosahatchee River which is part of the Intracoastal Waterway. Within minutes, we were checked in and Charlie had set up the RV in our campsite. He's come a long way with parking the RV. So for any "newbies" out there, just be patient with yourself. It will come!

We worked until we had everything in its place for the next two weeks. Then we set up our chairs in the grass and just relaxed. I made some guacamole for our lunch which we had with tortilla chips.

Before the sun went down, we rode our bikes all the way to the highway and back. This is a 4 mile ride through the park. The park property adjoins a ranch with lots of cattle grazing along the roadsides. Beyond the pastures is a huge orange grove.

We are so happy to be here. This is our fourth year here, and it is like coming home. This is our favorite destination on our winter trip here. It's clean, spacious, and beautiful and relaxing. And everyone is always so friendly and laid back here.

Today is our son Adam's 29th birthday, and we just want to send a special Happy Birthday shout out to you, Adam! Hope you enjoyed our birthday song to you today. :-)
