Overlooking Lake Geneva to the mountains

Lake Geneva from the train

Today, we took the Golden Pass train to Montreux, passing through beautiful snow clad areas with impressive snow clad mountains. We passed through the elite resort of Gstaad, apparently a holiday place for the Royal Family, then wound our steep way down to Montreux, on the banks of Lake Geneva. There are several statues of famous musicians here, including one of Freddie Mercury. As we were now in French speaking country, we had Italian for lunch. We caught the train back via a different route, with just a little more alpine scenery and plentiful vineyards winding their way up the hillsides.
