|We began our drive to the Stout Grove in California on Monday driving along the Smith River. We found ourselves out of the truck on several occasions taking in the beauty, oh my! The Smith River is approximately 25 miles long and drains a rugged area of the Pacific Coast Ranges west of the Siskiyou Mountains just south of the Oregon border and north of the watershed of the Klamath River. It is the second largest river system in California that flows freely along its entire course and was named for the explorer Jedediah Smith. I suppose it's because we are normally here in October but I always find it to be so pretty with it's fall colors, although we were here in December one year and it had plenty of snow along it's banks! I think you will find it to be quite pretty as well. Enjoy!!
