21st October

Arrived in Buronga Friday afternoon. The temperature was in the 30's. We are here for a week. We have been lucky enough to get a campsite in Frogs Hollow (an open area within the caravan park), overlooking the Murray to Mildura. So we have had a few relaxing days watching the paddle boats.

On Saturday we travelled over to Mildura to visit the farmers market that is held on the river bank. One of the best markets we have come across. The produce is of excellent quality. The Mildura show has been on the last three days. Last night we were able to watch the fireworks closing the show for another year.

Back over the border this morning to visit Merbein. This charming irrigation village's main street is brimming with antique stores. Our visit coincided with a colourful country market. The markets were set up in the main street with a variety of produce, craft and collectibles[I call them dust collectors] After the markets we stopped at the Golden Arches for lunch, enjoying a serious lamb burger. Heading back into NSW we have a look around Gol Gol. Home to peace and tranquility of a wide stretch of river and one of the region's best pubs with views to the Murray River. The Gol Gol hotel where you can pull up your houseboat and wander up for dinner and drinks.

On our way back to the park we call into Orange World to have a look. Opted not to do the hour tour as it is very hot and there is a bunch of noisy kids booked as well. It was interesting looking around at their locally made produce and cosmetics products.
