Opening the bridge

Murray River at Riverbend Caravan Park

Renmark campsite

18th October

Leaving Clare this morning we passed through several historic towns, vineyards and farmlands. A very picturesque and relaxing drive. Stopping at Barmera for a break which lasted 5 minutes after being bombarded by little flying ants. They were every where, all over the car, coming through the vents. A shame,it was a pretty spot for a rest.

Arrived in Renmark prior to lunch, this will be our stop tonight. Staying at the Riverbend Caravan Park. The park is situated on the Murray River about 3 kms out of Renmark and walking distance to Paringa. A lovely park with large grassy sites. The owners are very friendly with a Jack Russell with a big attitude. Walks around like he is a hundred years old when he is only four. We are enjoying water views and watching the house boats idle by. We were fortunate enough to witness the opening of the bridge to allow a house boat through. This is a must for us to visit again. Have really enjoyed visiting the Clare Valley and surrounding areas.

Tomorrow we move on to Mildura, another favourite place we like to stay.
