It is a neat and historic place

What a day yesterday was! We took a relatively short ride to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. It was sunny with the high about 70. After a stop at the visitor center we headed north on the island to the end of the road. There we found the Currituck Beach Light House and restored village. We walked around, went up in the Light House, what views. Had lunch at the camper then went into the Nature Center which showed how this area developed. This is where all the ducks come to winter. So in the 1800's and early 1900's a number of hunting clubs operated here and people of wealth from all over the world would come to duck hunt and to catch the fish that crowded the fresh waters of the sound. Of course they over did it but conservation efforts prevailed and all is back to normal. We pulled into a campground that is very beachy and across the street from the ocean. Dinner was a walker as we travelled about 2 blocks to the Black Pelican. This is the original life saving station for the area and dates back to the late 1800's. In fact, there used to be a telegraph office at the station and this is the exact place the Wright Brothers telegraphed Washington DC that they had flown their plane. And what a dinner. Shrimp and grits for me with clam chowder soup. Shirley enjoyed her Edamame. We had cable again and I was able to watch the baseball playoffs one more time. Enjoy the pics.
