We left Glenn's and headed farther south. Our stop of the day was in Quantico VA and the new National Museum of the Marine Corps. This was not here the last time you visited unless you went in 2006 or after. Let me tell you it was FANTASTIC. The architecture of the building resembles the famous flag planting on Iwo Jima at Mt. Suribachi. Inside there were some real to life and full life sized Marine battle scenes. After the introductory movie a travel through the history of the Marines beginning with the Revolutionary War.It was so well done with multimedia displays and things you could touch. We landed on the beach front of Iwo Jima via movies taken during the assault. I am glad I wasn't there. One fact we learned earlier in the week was that 23 Marines were ordered to sail the USS Constitution out of Annapolis to the North when it appeared Maryland was going to side with the Confederacy. The Marines have been in all America's battles and certainly have a strict code they live by. Once a Marine, Always a Marine. If you ever get to this part of Virginia be sure to make this museum a must stop. Semper Fi. Enjoy the pics.
