What a beautiful day of travelling we had yesterday. We headed to Kennebunkport where Bush 1 has a summer place as you may remember. We walked this quaint town and stopped by the restaurant Bandaloop hoping to see the grandson of one of our beloved church members Ginny Lee. Unfortunately we were unable to hook up. Then on to route 1A which runs along the southern Maine and the short New Hampshire coasts. Spectacular is the only word I can use for this excursion. On the way we stopped in Kittery Point and walked around Ft.McClary. It was used to protect the Portsmouth harbor from the British on numerous occasions. It's last use way by civilians watching for enemy planes from the blockhouse during WWII. Then onto the RARELY used interstate to get to Salem Mass. We were looking for a Walmart night but fortunately they didn't allow overnight parking. We would have needed to sleep with one eye open (not a great neighborhood) so we found a city park on the water for the night. Enjoy the pics.
