Our trip from Red Bay to Riverside, AL was 163 miles of uneventful driving. Most of it was four-lane, but all of it (except the area through Birmingham) was good roads and provided for enjoyable, though monotonous, driving. We are staying in the Safe Harbor RV Park in Riverside, AL which is about 40 miles East of Birmingham and 16 miles Northwest of Talladega. We have a 50 amp full hookup, pull-through site just off the lake and have good Verizon and a clear shot to the satellite. The only down side is it is about 95% permanent residents with just a few overnight sites. They had a site on the lake but it was under a tree that had a limb hanging about a foot too low for us.
Right after arriving we found a nice Mexican restaurant and had a late lunch. It was almost as good as La Napolera's but not quite! We then went to our first Walmart in three weeks and restocked a few items.
We didn't do much but relax and enjoy some football through the week-end. Doris was busy reorganizing the kitchen cabinets to take advantage of the new slide trays! She also started packing for what we need to unload when we get home in a couple of weeks. We leave tomorrow for someplace??? We are still not quite sure of our next stop. We plan on stopping at R Shaefer Heard Corp of Engineer park on West Lake just above Columbus, GA but if we cannot find a site that we can get the satellite, we will probably go on to Macon where we have reservations for next weekend. The cancelling of the rally gave us extra time we hadn't counted on when we made those reservations.
