We left Clarkston, WA about 7:30 Sunday, September 16, 2012 and headed for Caldwell, ID. While in Clarkston, we encountered several days of smoke from forest fires in the area and knew that we would be heading into the area of the fires. As we headed south, the smoke got denser and denser and we really could smell it. We were glad to be just passing through. Lots of burned acres along the way that were visible. We did get to see their "incident camps" where the over 600 firefighters camped out. Quite a sight to see. Lots of tents, equipment and supplies.
Upon arriving in Caldwell, Dale noticed that our 5th wheel had a film on it. After wiping it down, it was a layer of soot which we assumed was from the fires. Never experienced anything like that before.
We arrived in Caldwell, ID and stayed at Ambassador RV Park, another favorite RV Park. After hosting the campout, we were a little tired so we took two days and just took it easy. Great park to do that in. Met a newly retired couple out of Houston, Texas and had a nice visit. One of the best things about RVing is all the great people you meet.
