We had the morning to spend on our own. We walked around Invercargill to find a bakery and have our last meat pie before the trip. The hotel gave us an excellent one and we loved it. We walked back and Mabel took some time at a local yarn shop. After three months, it was good to be in a real yarn shop.
We officially started on the expedition at dinner, with the rest of the group. Dinner was at the hotel and there was lots of New Zealand fare to eat. We met people from all over the world. Some were young, but for the most part, we were an older group.
