The Crystal Cathedral

The main pipe organ - supposedly 16,000 total pipes

Not a whole lot of excitement today, but it was still a good one.

We left about 9:30 and drove the 10 minutes from the campground to the Crystal Cathedral, which is a church that you may have seen on TV over the years. It was the home of one of the first nationwide televangelists but according to the local news, they have had financial problems in the last couple years and in fact the property was recently sold to the Catholic Church. The church looks kind of worn inside – the carpets are kind of dirty, the seats are worn and it needs some paint. Looks like the Catholics have some work to do.

From there we got in touch with Michele’s cousin Sue and headed to her house about 20 minutes away. We got there about 11:30 and sat with her and her kids Jennifer and Robert and his friend Millie gabbing for awhile. Once her husband Rob was able to get away from work, we all met him at The Whole Enchilada for some Mexican food – and get this – more gabbing. When we got done there Rob headed back to work and the rest of us headed back to the house for some more - you guessed it - more gabbing. Rob got home from work about 6:30 and then after we caught up on our gabbing, we headed back to the bus at about 8:00 to let the security system go off duty. It was nice to spend a day catching up with Sue & Rob and the kids and we’re glad we could work it out – and by the way, thanks again for lunch!

We plan on meeting a friend’s son for lunch tomorrow in Hollywood and then we are going to the Angel’s game with Sue & Rob at 6:30. We are hitting the road Saturday morning for San Diego to play tourist there for a couple days, then we plan to head eastish towards home. Not a beeline mind you, but in that general direction. At least that’s our plan for now.
