While the guys worked on the See Ya, Sue, Arnie and I headed south on I-5 to visit friends in San Clemente and Vista.
I played racquetball with Tom Segee in the late 70s and accepted a position to work for him at The Associates in 1979. We have kept in touch over the years. He and his wife, Susan live in a beautiful home high in the hills above San Clemente.
On our way to the Segees we stopped briefly at Capistrano Beach for a little beach walking. The weather was great and we walked awhile on the bike path (Arnie was not permitted on the beach) before heading up the hill.
We had a lovely lunch with Tom and Sue on their patio overlooking the valley to the east and Camp Pendleton Marine Base. Arnie had a great time stealing toys and bones from their two dogs, Haley and Brena.
Later in the afternoon we headed further south and then inland to Vista. Once again we climbed a hill to a home with a great view. Maureen and Dennis Herris were friends and neighbors in the 80s in Country Club Hills, IL. They headed west to the San Diego area at about the same time that Sue and I moved to Texas. Dennis has done a wonderful job of refurbishing their home that had been abandoned for a couple of years before their purchase of it. The Herris prepared a great dinner and we enjoyed catching up with them.
It was a long but very enjoyable day as we returned to the See Ya at 10:00 that night!
