|We took a ride on the Rim of the World Scenic Byway which takes you through the San Bernardino National Forest to Big Bear Lake. It's a very scenic drive through the mountains. We passed railroad tracks that traverse the Cajon Pass which was formed by movements of the San Andreas Fault. Along the way we came upon Silverwood Lake which is a beautiful lake nestled among the mountains. As we climbed upward toward Big Bear Lake, we encountered the remnants of a recent snowfall. Californians in the southern parts of the state really get excited about a mountain snowfall. They just can't wait to get up there to see it. Big Bear Lake is beautiful but a little on the expensive side since they offer both summer and winter activities.
