|We were awake a lot during the night with gale force winds rocking our camper- felt like we were in a boat!! No way there would be any boat tours today.
Mark studied our indoor options up the road. We headed out for Blenheim
Via Picton. He is a wonderful tour guide & an amazing rig driver too! It was quite challenging in these high winds to keep the rig on the road! I call this our white knuckle trip! Whew!
It was beautiful & scenic with LOTS of curvy roads with u-turns & very flimsy wooden guardrails that looked like toothpicks!
In Picton, we saw where the ferry carries people/cars over to the north island on a 4 hour journey.
Arrived in Blenheim, met Arnold at our campground. Our spot 88 is near a double decker 18 wheeler that has been transformed into a massage & relaxation business. You gotta see it to believe it!
We headed off to the Brancott Winery for lunch & wine tasting. It was the BEST meal we have had!!! Wow! Smoked salmon with beet root, sweet potato with horseradish yogurt topping & monk fish cooked to perfection with potatoes & peppers.
Mark toured thru the Aviation Heritage Centre in Omaka & loved it.
We love this northern part of NZ. It's called by some, the top of the South.
