On the way to Railay

Ao Nang Beach at low tide

Love these taxis!

Even though I've been here for less than a week this country is bringing up so many memories from trips past.

The decor, the music, and the smells remind me of the good things in India. The pop culture reminds me of the life I left behind in Japan. The sunshine beating down on my shoulders reminds me of the wonderful time I had on the French Riviera. And of course, the beautiful tropical waters take me back to another life and time spent in the caribbean. Thailand feels like the crossroads of all cultures and countries mixed together.

Needless to say this trip is already reigniting my love of travel. Something I thought I had lost after my last voyage abroad.

After a couple of days acclimating myself in Ao Nang, I'm now at Railay Beach, a short boat ride away. Railay is supposedly one of the jewels of the Andaman Sea. I tried not to overdo it on the beach today but of course, I still got a bit of a burn. Worth it though. Now I don't quite glow ghostly white while walking down the street.

Tonight is a full moon. I've been told that about 30,000 tourists are at some other island getting ready to lose their minds while dancing on the beach. They're all expected to return here..right around the time I hope to be off to my next destination, thank goodness.

Looking forward to another day on the beach tomorrow. The food is actually surprisingly good. On the beach boats come up and serve you anything from fresh pineapple and fruit smoothies to corn on the cob and chicken pitas. Yum!

Will check back in soon. I have loads of photos to share but need another computer. Check back soon for an update~

PS...On the airplane over here I saw Crazy Stupid Love. I finally get the whole Ryan Goseling thing. need to watch this movie!)
