Obscure reference to the NBA (which is on strike). The Portland Trailblazers are in the NBA. Anyway....we are here in Portland OR. for the first time in 35 years. We came here on our country wide trip in '76. This time our great friend Dave Clark lives here. Actually, he grew up in Portland and moved back about 8 years ago. He has been a fine host taking us to some great local haunts and doing a road trip up to Mt. Hood and the Multnomah Water Falls and the Columbia River gorge. We even went by the boyhood home of Dave. Very nice! We had dinner tonight with one of Dave's longtime friends Jerry and we all had a wonderful time chatting. That was the good stuff. Last night the three of us went to a sports bar to watch both the Braves and Red Sox complete their respective collapses and find themselves out of the MLB playoffs. What a joy for both guys. Shirley of course could care less but she was a trooper as the Braves went extra innings and the SOX had a rain delay. The truck is in sickbay. Normal 75 K service but they are working on finding the cause of a VERY ANNOYING and increasingly frequent tone that goes off when you apply the brakes. The interior lights flash and it says left door ajar. Tracking down electrical problems is laborious and costly. But even if we want to sell the truck at some point we would need to get it fixed so we are biting the bullet now. More Portland stuff tomorrow. Enjoy the pics.
