We made it. Yup we are in Anchorage our 49th state. The locals are still saying "I like Ike" the President when Alaska became a state in 1959. Smooth flight and the Princess Cruise people were waiting for us for our transfer to the hotel. Our bags made it and everything. The four of us took a trolley tour of the city and its environs. Hi-lites were seeing where the 1964 earthquake had an impact in the city and seeing the largest float plane airport in the world. We took in a couple of films about the very large area in the state set aside for park and natural lands and the first home movies of the earthquake and resulting tsunamis. I was interested to see that there was and still is controversy from the locals over the park set aside signed by President Carter which includes ANWAR. We found a couple of restaurants for lunch and dinner and basically did the tourist thing. Today we head to Talkeetna on a motor coach for a couple of nights and days in a resort. Shirley is taking a flight seeing trip to Mt. McKinley, the tallest mountain in North America. Don, Jeanne and I will be doing some hiking. The weather was terrific again with mostly sunny skies and high in the 60s.Enjoy the pics.
