DANA POINT

Dana Point is a beautiful area about an hour’s drive north of San Diego and about halfway between San Diego and Los Angeles International airport, where were flying home from. We had stayed there a few years ago for a week at the exquisitely beautiful St. Regis Monarch Beach Hotel.

There are also about three other great hotels to stay at in the area. Since we did not make reservations ahead of time, upon arriving in Dana Point, we visited the various hotels to see what they could offer us in terms of an ocean view suite. Although the pricing was in the same range at the various hotels, we decided to stay at the St. Regis Monarch Beach. It is a Starwood Hotel of which we are top tier members and we had a good relationship with the Resort Manager, Maria Fitzsimons, from our previous visit.

It was a great decision, and we were given the royal treatment by all the management and staff.

With all the restaurant options in the resort, you could try a different one each day for nearly a week. We only had time to experience the Motif for breakfast and High Tea prepared by Executive Chef Frederick Castan and his highly competent staff, Monarch Beach Club at the edge of the ocean for lunch, and, on our final night, we had fine dining a Chef Michael Mina's, Stonehill Tavern.

We know you will enjoy all the pictures of this world-class resort hotel and encourage you to visit it yourself someday.

On one of the days during our visit, we had a delicious Mexican lunch at Olamendis Monarch Beach restaurant in the shopping center adjacent to the St. Regis resort.

We finish with photos of Monarch Beach that will certainly convince you to visit this wonderful place in our country.
